The Harigga of the Tuchuks
LAWS OF SLAVES
1) Slaves are not required to ask permission to enter Camps but must request permission from a Free Person to leave. If the request is not granted in a reasonable amount of time, then repeat the request, as it might have been missed. If a second request is not answered, then politely take your leave.
2) All Free Persons and Guests are to be greeted upon entering, except when a slave is serving. In these instances, they are to be greeted once their serve is complete. The Free are to be addressed simply as Master or Mistress. The only time a slave may use a Free Person’s name is in action or thought, or to specify one from the other when in conversation.
3) Speaking to the Free in camp is not forbidden, and many fun things can be shared, as is appropriate. Rude or insolent free-floating thoughts, or “Thought Bashing”, toward the Free will NOT be tolerated. If you have something that is not nice to say, whisper to the person, and choose your words and thoughts carefully. And always remember, it’s not a slave’s place to challenge the Free.
4) Slaves do not need speak in the third person.
5) Remember, a backhand across the face is not punishment, it is a correction.
6) Slaves of the Harigga will NOT be labeled as “Reserved in Punishment”. Any slave may be corrected by any Free Person or the First Girl of the Wagons.
7) Master's or Mistresses should be treated with equal respect from a slave. No slave should "ignore" a request from either sex. Being kajirae does not mean you should serve only the Masters. The same goes for kajiri, except, reversed.
8) Unruly, disruptive, or insolent slaves who warrant death may be restrained and gagged until their Owner is present to deal with them.
9) Slaves do not handle weapons without direct command of the Free. Punishment for such things is may include death. There are instances where a Free Person may be lenient and simply whip the slave, who should accept it as a slave should.
10) Glana slaves do not Nadu for any besides their Master or Mistress.
11) A “Glana” slave means the slave is still virgin and of yet untrained in passion. Once the slave is properly trained and taken for the first time, they are “Falarina”. Do not rush to become Falarina, for if you are not 100% pleasing in any situation; serving, speaking, manners, and sexual nature; you may be punished or killed. There is no such thing as a "Reserved" slave. You may be a "preferred" slave to your Owner, but even listing such does not save you from being used by others. If you do not want to be used by others, you should remain Glana. Falarina is a passion slave, and for one to be "reserved" is death upon their heart and torment to the soul.
12) A Free Person of the tribe does not need to roll to maim, correct, whip or even kill a slave. The only exception to this is in instances where an unrestrained male slave, who is trained in combat, may be fighting against the attack.
13) "Running away" is not only impossible but is also punished by death, should you miraculously make it past the Out Riders and trained prairie sleen that patrol the territories.
14) Slaves will accept punishments as graciously as they accept praise. If you have to be drug kicking and screaming to the post or wagon wheel, then expect more lashes.
15) Tribe slaves are sisters and brothers in chains. To try to shirk your work onto another shall bring punishment unless either a Free Person or the First Girl gives it the ok.
16) No slave will engage in conversation unless given permission. The "putting in of a slave's 2 copper" on matters of the Free without consent will not be tolerated.
17) If trouble arises in the camp or any other non "safe zone” ((I.E.: a Kur or a Tarnsman enters.)) slaves will immediately retreat into the wagons. Slaves will NOT engage in rock throwing or any other form of attack. To strike or hit a Free Person is punishable by death. The exception to this are Kajiri who are trusted enough to have been trained in the weapons of the wagons and will aid in acting as the last line of defense.
18) Slaves will never argue with the Free. If a Master or Mistress says the sky is green and the grass is blue, then it is so, and the slave will humor them. Free Persons are not always right, but, by definition, they are never wrong.
19) Whining, pouting, or sighing is the sign of a bored slave, and that is not allowed. Keep busy with camp chores and be pleasing. Remember, your actions always reflect on your Owner and also reflect on your Ubar, Ubara, First Girl, and Tribe.
20) Slaves will not be freed without consent of the Ubar and a plan for them to survive. If that means that you wait, then you wait. Female slaves will not be freed, except by their Masters who are planning to Mate with them once they are Free. Male slaves that are deemed fit, may be freed and allowed to seek their courage scar, thereby becoming a Tuchuk Warrior.
((**NOTE**))
((Both of these instances are extremely rare among the Tribe.))
